Thomas E. Cluley - Chief Operations Partner

Mr. Thomas E. Cluley has over 35 years of experience in consulting, operations and materials, with extensive expertise in directing and leading strategic implementations as a senior level leader and senior management consultant. His deep continuous process improvement (CPI) experience grew from the tutelage from Shingijutsu masters while a Director at Lean pioneer Wiremold Corporation. For almost a decade he has been bringing his lessons learned in commercial industry to the public sector.

As Chief Operations Partner at MainStream Global Solutions (MainStream GS), Mr. Cluley is responsible for the daily operations of MainStream GS consulting team. Mr. Cluley is charged with the coordination of projects with clients, training and certification of team consultants, and the development of all training and presentation modules.

Prior to being promoted to Chief Operations Partner, Mr. Cluley was a Senior Lean Six Sigma Consultant with MainStream GS. In this role Mr. Cluley assisted private sector organizations in the implementation of Lean practices in the manufacturing and office areas as well as conducting Strategy Deployment and assessments. He interacted with all levels of organizations in implementing Lean and leading the cultural change of organizations to Lean.

Before joining MainStream GS Mr. Cluley was the Director of Operations at Flow Technology. In this position Mr. Cluley was responsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing and restructuring the organization for acquisition growth opportunities. His responsibilities included continuous process (CPI) improvement and quality in manufacturing, supply chain management, and manufacturing engineering in the production of fluid and gas flow metering devices.

At TBM Consulting Group Mr. Cluley worked with clients to implement Lean throughout the value chain including leadership, vendor support, Lean office and distribution. He also was responsible for training clients in the Toyota Production System and leading Kaizen initiatives in support of Policy Deployment. Mr. Cluley led the effort to initiate Lean in the lumber industry with Pacific Lumber. Other clients include Maytag, Hoover, Kaiser Aluminum, Polaroid, and Michelin Tire.

While at TBM, Mr. Cluley identified key organizational elements that help foster a culture of change and began integrating the tools of organizational change and development. Mr. Cluley utilized Hoshin Kanri (Policy / Strategy Deployment) and the technical elements of Lean and Six Sigma to create improved performance and results for client organizations.

During his time at Wiremold Corporation Mr. Cluley implemented Lean within Interlink, a struggling subsidiary of Wiremold. In addition, he led the effort to revitalize two other Wiremold companies serving as President of the inter-company Wiremold Information Network Team and as a team member of the Corporate Steering Committee. He was instrumental in reducing lead-time from four weeks to 24 hours, increasing inventory turns from six to 18 per year, and reversing an $800k loss to profitability.

Mr. Cluley received a Bachelors of Science degree in Management from Rowan University, formerly Glassboro College, with a specialization in Management Information Systems.
