Organization: Ogden Air Logistics Center (OO-ALC)

Group: 309th Commodities Maintenance Group (309 CMXG)

Project: Wheel Assemblies Maintenance, Repair, & Overhaul (MRO) Process Improvement

Assignment:

The 309 CMXG provides depot MRO of wheel assemblies for the F-22A Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt, C-130 Hercules, and the ICBM Peacekeeper and Minuteman III missiles. The 309 CMXG was taking too long to complete the MRO of the wheel assemblies, which was placing stress on the supply chain. MainStream GS was engaged to improve performance and implement continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives in order to transform the 309 CMXG's MRO operations from Batch-and-Queue to Cellular Flow.

Actions:

MainStream GS conducted a cultural assessment of the 309 CMXG's willingness to change and their team effectiveness. A cross-functional team of personnel was assembled to support the transformation process. MainStream GS trained leadership, functional support personnel, and the workforce in CPI and Lean principles. MainStream GS created Current and Future State Value Stream Maps (VSMs) to identify project opportunities and the define the desired end state.
